The Campaign for NorthShore University HealthSystem

A Vision of World-Class Care Close to Home

The CampaignThe Campaign for NorthShore University HealthSystem – the largest fundraising campaign in the history of the organization – reached its original goal of $100 million in February 2006, 16 months ahead of schedule. It raised support for programs system-wide, including seven Centers of Excellence: Advanced Imaging, Cancer Care, Cardiovascular Care, Gastroenterology, Maternal and Child Health, Medical Genetics and Neuroscience.

Through generous gifts to The Campaign, thousands of patients have benefited from major renovation and construction projects at Evanston, Glenbrook and Highland Park Hospitals; significant investments in clinical programs and new technologies; and the continued recruitment of the best physicians, nurses, researchers and other healthcare professionals.

The Campaign has resulted in support for eight dedicated facilities, six endowed chairs, 52 special programs and 15 research funds, including:

  • The Charles R. Walgreen, Jr. Building, Evanston Hospital
  • The William B. Graham Medical Office Building
  • H. Earl and Miriam U. Hoover Intensive Care Unit, Highland Park Hospital
  • Simms Family GI Laboratory, Glenbrook Hospital
  • Owen L. Coon Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Virginia and James Cozad Chair of Hematology/Oncology
  • Davis Family Chair of Outcomes Research
  • Duckworth Family Chair of Breast Cancer Research
  • Stanley C. Golder Chair of Neuroscience Research
  • William B. Graham Chair of Radiology
  • Maxine P. and W. James Farrell Breast Cancer Research Fund
  • Robert Szombathy Acute Stroke Team Fund

Looking Toward the Future

The Board of Directors of NorthShore University HealthSystem and the NorthShore University HealthSystem Foundation have recommitted to raising an additional $50 million beyond the original Campaign goal of $100 million.
