Foot & Ankle

Dr. Steven L. Haddad
Section Head, Foot & Ankle

Our feet and ankles are under a great deal of stress every day. In fact, walking puts up to 1.5 times your bodyweight on your foot and, as shock absorbers, feet cushion up to one million pounds of pressure during one hour of strenuous exercise.1 All this activity can lead to ankle sprains, Achilles tendon injury, overuse injuries and shin splints. Orthopaedic surgeons specially-trained in the foot and ankle can treat those injuries and more.

NorthShore University HealthSystem’s orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons are experts in the unique needs of the foot and its 26 bones as well as the bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons of the ankle. Our surgeons are able to detect the early stages of illnesses that may point to more serious problems such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Foot and ankle recovery plans may include surgical or non-surgical options for treatment.
